The Middle School is a college preparatory program which integrates lectures, note-taking and labs into the traditional class structure. We believe that the high academic demands of course work and a climate of high expectations results in an effective school curriculum. The Computer Lab is equipped with Apple iMac computers. Students learn typing, MLA formatting, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Students also produce projects using Apple's creative software suite using photos, video, and their imagination. The Physical Education Program includes basketball, polymetric, scooter hockey, volleyball and quarterly fitness test. The consensus from our students is that they feel very prepared for honors classes in high school, and indeed, those honors courses do not seem as difficult as Middle School at Hawarden Hills.
